Work in Progress - Hedgehog Pots

Being at the studio for the exhibition is proving useful for getting some work done too! Over the last 3 days I've thrown white earthenware pots, dipped them in terracotta slip, burnished them and then carved into them and added features to make hedgehog pots!

I'm still deciding which style I like best and have a few more pots to experiment with but I'm liking how they are turning out so far.

Day 3 - Be Part of the Art

It's been a much quieter day today, but we still found some enthusiastic visitors to help add to our artwork.
They were very creative, check out thier work!

Come and add your own creation.

Day 2 - Be Part of the Art

We had another busy day meeting lots of creative people at The Grid Studios yesterday, look at the brilliant things they made for our collaborative artwork;

There were hedgehogs, snakes, skulls, dogs and ammonites.

Some great tiles and rocks with fossils.

A very curious creature!

And a lovely poppy

Come and add your own creation, all this week during The Grid Studios exhibition.

Be Part of the Art

The exhibition theme at our studios is 'Place'. We want you to become a part of our place by creating your own peice of artwork in the form of a small clay model when you visit.

You dont have to have anything in mind before you come, we just want you to revive the fun, freedom and creativity you had as a child.
The point is to have fun having a go!

Today we've already gathered a fantastic range, from cats, to trees, to snakes and tiles!

A mouse and a flower.

A streptococcus-saurus and a hedgehog

Fabulous tiles, cats, rats and mushrooms!

Ripp the elf

A smashing snake!

A striking tile

A snoozy cat.

We hope the experience of creating something for our place will create a place in your own memory of a fun experience.

We hope that over the week, more of your creations will appear in our place, making an evolving, interactive artwork made by all of you!

I'll post photos here as it evolves, so please come and add to our artwork!

Thank you to everyone who joined in with such enthusiasm today, it was brilliant meeting you all and seeing your creations!

First Time Raku Fire

Yesterday I went to my first ever raku firing.
It was so much fun! X3
For the first firing they had trouble getting the kiln up to 1000 degrees, and so some of the glazes didn't mature properly, but I was still really pleased with the results.

My favourite is definitely Mr badger who I love!

The mushroom also came out really good! I forgot which glaze I used on it tho! >_<"

This is one of my Mum's pots, it has some lovely blues on it and inside some shiny gold!

I kept away from the burny hot fire n stuff and just took photos this time.

The second firing did get up to temperature and again I was pleased with my pot.

I can't wait to have another go, which is luckily hopefully going to be a couple of weeks time.
