About the Ceramics

With my artwork I hope to bring a little whimsy and delight back into life by creating amusing yet elegant forms which when placed around the home or garden will bring a smile to those who glimpse them.

I like to make practical forms, so as well as being works of art each has a function, be it a coaster, birdfeeder, planter or tea light, it’s more than just an ornament.

I’m especially interested in combining ceramics with plants, growing through and around them to make a combined piece of artwork.

Currently I’m most interested in the process of mould making and slip casting. I make slip and push moulds from my original sculptures and finish each cast by hand, meaning each item is unique.

Being able to replicate shapes using moulds allows me to explore the possibilities of adding different designs, patterns, textures and glazes to them.

It also means I can make artwork that is a little more affordable, yet still unique.

The inspiration for my designs comes from the natural world, in particular British fauna and flora.
